The Granny at Screamwork is unlike any other escape room!!It’s much scarier, more immersive, and full of fun surprises! We had such a thrilling and hilarious time screaming our way through the challenges. To successfully escape Granny’s house, teamwork and strategy are key! You’ll need to split up at first, then come together to solve the puzzles. The set design is incredibly detailed and spooky; you can really tell they put a lot of effort into it. Overall, highly recommended! πŸ‘» (Just note that this Granny theme might be a bit challenging for beginners, so make sure your team is ready before you enter Granny’s house!) There were four of us in our group, and even though one teammate had never played an escape room before, we still managed to escape β€” literally in the last minute! πŸ˜† YOU HAVE TO COME TRY IT!!!!

Fantastic experience. Was as much terrifying as it was fun. The attention to detail was incredible and the story line worked so well with the lack of interaction with anyone when you arrive. We managed to escape the whole thing, and we have never felt such a huge wave of relief when we made it outside. Would definitely recommend

Hands down the most immersive, exciting, and outright fun escape β€œthing” I’ve ever done! In the nicest way possible it has ruined other escape rooms for us. Without giving anything away, the puzzles are so much fun. The immersion is so real, you forget what you’re actually doing and get so stuck in. The story line is excellent, the room design is amazing. The prizes to win really do make it so much more involving and challenging. It wasn’t about just moving on, but β€œcompleting” the game. The immersion starts literally from the outside. And genuinely the lack of welcome or any sort of reception is ingenious. You’re immediately off guard, questioning everything (like being told β€œleave your bags here” and you don’t trust itπŸ˜‚). I so badly wish there was more locations with different themes. I am dying for more!!!!!

What an experience. By far the best escape game I’ve ever done. Fun, creepy, scary and memorable. It’s a roller coaster of emotions. Starting with creepy then turning strange to fun and then completely outright horrifying at the end. Would highly recommend as long as you’re not easily offended. We did this as a group of 5 and it was amazing. Thanks for such a creative experience that will forever set new standards for any future escape game I ever do

Without a doubt, the best escape room experience ever! Firstly, the pacing is amazing, puzzles are great difficulty, you get put off guard between fun and horribly terrifying. The price is so good for how much you get out of this experience. Until the end, was worried I was not gonna make it out because it was so immersive. Would recommend to anyone, it’s definitely a must do experience in London and well done to the super sweet guy behind it all!

Really fun, immersive escape room. Puzzles were tricky but not so hard we couldn’t get them. The fear and apprehension of Granny coming out made it harder to think clearly and solve the puzzles. It was really fun doing this as a group of 10. We got some good laughs out of everybody’s reaction to Granny.

The best and most immersive escape room experience ever! (And I’ve done a fair amount of escape rooms!) Extremely scary / Mature themes which leaves with with a sore voice, banging headache and adrenaline rushing through your body. Would do it again just to see some friends suffer like I did πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ thanks screamworks so much praise for your amazing orchestrated experience!!! Please do ping a email to your historic customers if you run a different storyline!!

I had an absolute blast at this escape room on an outing with my coworkers! The puzzles were fun, granny was SCARY, and we managed to solve it and get out in 51 minutes. I got trapped in a room by myself with granny and it sufficiently scared the crap out of me. I would recommend as a fun Halloween time spooky activity!

Granny’s gone. They finally put her in a nursing home.

Her house and bookshop on Paradise Row are scheduled for demolition to make way for a swanky new development of luxury penthouses β€” with a couple of affordable units around the back.

But rumours are circulating that somewhere inside the house, Granny hid the long-lost Thorne family fortune.

Blackstone Developments think this is complete nonsense. Still, never one to miss out on a commercial opportunity, they’re charging members of the public for the chance to go inside and look for it.

You have one hour. If you find the treasure, you can keep it.

And don’t worry about Granny. She’s securely locked away.

She can’t get you.

Probably.

DISCLAIMER: The property is abandoned and there are confirmed reports of booby traps throughout, so enter at your own risk.Β

Granny 2 is a completely new game featuring all-new challenges β€” with a couple of old favourites. You do not need to have played the original Granny Escape Game to fully enjoy this experience.

Entry Instructions

Each member of your group will need to complete a short pre-checkin form to access their tickets. You will be met outside the venue by a representative from Blackstone Developments who will scan your tickets and brief you on your mission. Granny 2 runs to a strict time schedule and late comers will not be admitted under any circumstances.

FAQs
Do we get a traditional pre-show briefing?

As with all ScreamWorks' productions, the experience begins the moment you arrive.

For Granny 2 – the Escape Game, you will be met by an official from Blackstone Land Acquisition who will be able to answer any questions you may have.

Once you are inside Granny's house, everything you need to know will be communicated naturally, in-world, as events unfold. This allows tension, curiosity, and atmosphere to build without interruption, and lets you discover the experience for yourselves.

How can 18 players all play Granny at the same time?

Granny 2 – the Escape Game isn’t a traditional escape room β€” it’s a multi-room, live, overlapping mission designed like a haunted house you can actually play. The experience spreads you across multiple interconnected spaces, with different objectives happening in parallel.

That means everyone stays involved from start to finish.Β

Do you have a clue system?

We build worlds designed to pull you into a story. There is no button to press, no camera to wave at, no disembodied voice telling you what to do next.

All information is delivered in-world. Guidance may come through a phone call, an interaction with a performer, something printed or a system embedded in the house itself. Some of it is useful. Some of it is partial. Some of it only makes sense later.Β

This is intentional.

Our experiences don't happen to you. We create highly realistic situations and place you inside them.

Why don't you accept late-comers?

We give our customers a 15 minute check-in window, which starts 10 minutes before the start time of your mission and ends five minutes afterwards. For example, if you have booked a 13:30 time slot, we would expect you to arrive at 13:20, which will give you ample time to scan your tickets and receive your briefing.Β

All of our systems β€” including safety checks, consent recording, data protection, and in-world personalisation β€” assume that once this window ends, the experience is already underway and no additional people will enter.

Allowing someone in after that point would place them outside those systems, which we’re legally and operationally unable to do.

For this reason, even if you let us know you’re running late, we can’t admit anyone once the check-in window has closed.

We strongly recommend arriving early and reading the pre-show information we send you. Doing so ensures a smooth check-in and allows the experience to run exactly as intended.

Will I still enjoy this even though I am not a horror fan?

ScreamWorks events are designed to be enjoyable even for non-horror fans. That having been said, Granny 2 – the Escape Game creates fear, paranoia and anxiety in its participants and has been given a fear factor of 5/5, so if you really don’t enjoy feeling afraid, then we recommend that you book 'The Briefcase', our non-horror experience.Β

Is Granny a traditional escape room?

ScreamWorks’ productions are unique, so don’t expect Granny 2 – the Escape Game to be like a traditional escape room or anything you have done before. You need to enter with an open mind leave all expectations at the door.Β

Granny is a non-linear open-world adventure so Granny is not designed to be solved on a room-by-room basis. There are tasks and challenges that must be completed, but these are not like traditional escape room puzzles.Β

You certainly don’t need a maths degree.
You won't need to crack the Doomsday Cipher.
And you definitely won’t see more than one padlock.

Granny 2 is about surviving chaos together and discovering Granny's story and, with some luck, finding her hidden treasure.

The challenges inside are interactive, physical, social and fast-paced. Some require teamwork. Some require communication. Some require lateral thinking under pressure while your are being hunted by real people.

Challenging? Yes.
Boring? Never.

Can any of the characters touch me?

You will not be intentionally touched by Granny (or anyone) and you must not touch Granny.

What is the age restriction for Granny?

The age restriction is 13+, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Are there live actors?

Yes.

Is there somewhere secure to leave my bags?

Granny lives behind an abandoned bookshop. There are plenty of empty shelves, and some survivors have reported a secure cupboard with a key β€” useful for stashing your belongings before you head in.

Can I bring my phone into the experience?

Granny's house is large, dimly lit, and full of places where things disappear.

You're welcome to bring your phone inside β€” but if you lose it during the experience, we have five minutes to find it before the next group begins. After that, you'll need to arrange a separate visit to retrieve it.

If you do bring it in, keep it on loud and enable voice activation β€” it makes the difference between a quick find and a very awkward conversation.

Valuables enter the house at your own risk.

Do you have a customer toilet?

There is one toilet available during the experience β€” but it’s Granny’s bathroom, and you’ll need to find it first. Once the game begins, you can use it at any time. We strongly recommend using the bathroom before you arrive. Many guests stop at Mother Kelly’s nearby for a pre-show drink.

Can each member of my group pay individually?

The minimum cost to reserve a timeslot is 4 tickets. If you’re planning to visit Granny – the Escape Game with a group larger than 4 and want others to pay separately, just purchase 4 tickets in one transaction to secure your slot. You’ll receive a confirmation email with all the instructions β€” including a booking link and password β€” so your friends can add themselves to your timeslot later.

I have a physical disability, is this event suitable for me?

The experience takes place on a single level and does not involve crawling. However, due to the layout of Granny's home, it is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.

Some areas have uneven surfaces and low or intermittent lighting, so there is a degree of physicality involved that may make the event unsuitable for those with limited mobility or balance concerns.

If you have accessibility needs, we require you to get in touch with us before booking, so we can discuss your specific requirements and advise accordingly.

If you’re registered as needing a carer (e.g. via DLA or equivalent), we’re happy to provide aΒ free carer ticket. Just email us atΒ Β info@screamworks.co.uk

I am pregnant, is this event suitable for me?

The experience may involve moments of physical intensity, startle effects, and an unpredictable environment β€” all of which make it unsafe during pregnancy.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes with a good grip – trainers are perfect. Please avoid high heel shoes or any shoes which have a smooth leather bottom, like formal wear.

Where are you located?

Granny's house is behind Thorne's Bookshop at 261 Paradise Row, E2 9LE. It is a two-minute walk from Bethnal Green underground station (Central Line) and a twelve-minute walk from Bethnal Green overground station. Click hereΒ to see a map.

Avoid using Google Maps or City Mapper as these third-party apps can be unreliable. Allow enough time to find the venue, as due to the highly technical nature of our experiences we are unable to admit late-comers.Β

I am coming by car, where shall I park?

Don't come by car if you can help it. We are really well connected to public transport links.Β

If you must come by car: We do not have a customer parking facility. However, there are plenty of parking bays on adjacent streets.

How do we access the footage from our experience?

After attending Granny 2 – the Escape Game, you can log in using the email address you used at check-in to access any footage captured for your group via the Attendee Dashboard.

Please note: This video system is currently in beta and is provided completely free of charge as a gesture of goodwill. The footage is captured and selected automatically, and we cannot guarantee that specific moments, reactions, or scares will be recorded. We also cannot guarantee that footage will be available for every visit, or provide technical support or alternative recordings where footage is unavailable or incomplete.

Access is only granted if all members of your group complete check-in and no one subsequently opts out of media sharing.

Can I add more people after I’ve booked?

Yes. Whether your booking is public or private, you can add extra tickets later:

  1. Go to β€œMy Orders” on our website

  2. Find your booking

  3. Click β€œBuy More Tickets” and complete checkout as normal

Any extra tickets will be added to the same game and linked to your existing order.

Is Granny 2 based on the Granny video game?

No.Β Granny 2 – the Escape GameΒ is an original live immersive escape experience created independently by ScreamWorks. It has no connection with the Granny video game franchise and is not an adaptation, licensed experience or official collaboration.

The similarity is simply that both feature a character who is a granny. Our characters, storyline, environment, puzzles and overall experience are independently created.

I played Granny 1 β€” will Granny 2 be very different?

Yes! Granny 2 takes place in the same house, but it is a completely new game with a new story, new objective and almost entirely new puzzles and challenges β€” with just a couple of old favourites making a return.

If you played the original Granny, there is plenty here that will feel familiar, but you absolutely won’t know what’s coming next. Granny 2 has been designed specifically so previous players can come back and experience the house all over again.
